The Foti family tradition of fireworks dates back to 1793, beginning in Messina, Sicily. In 1838, Salvatore Foti moves to the town of Sinopoli, Calabria, in Southern Italy, where some members of the Foti family are still involved in the art of fireworks.
In 1952, Celestino Foti and his family emigrate to Australia where he works in a fireworks factory in Menangle Park, New South Wales, whilst conducting his own displays for the local Show Societies and Italian community.
Foti International Fireworks was established in 1969 by Celestino and Sam Foti, from where it has grown to become Australia's most awarded fireworks company.
Foti perform the fireworks for the Sydney 2000 Olympics Opening and Closing Ceremonies and the City of Sydney New Year's Eve firewors display as well as the Melbourne New Year's Eve display, among many other.
